I've found a piece of music that I finally feel comfortable describing as my overall favorite piece of music.  I've been hesitant to name one before, but I've found a winner: Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

This thing rocks in so many ways.

Did you know that Billy Joel loves Beethoven, too? He often cites The Beatles and Beethoven as his favorites ever, and Beethoven even inspired him to take a brief foray into composing classical music.

Anyways, I'm listening to the Ninth right now, thanks for the recommendation.

Hey, that's actually really cool!

(The second and fourth movements are my favorite in the Ninth, btw, if you're short on time).

And the first movement is cool too. There's also nothing wrong with the third movement.

I guess that's why it's my favorite :-P

A piece that, according to Wagner, achieved the pinnacle of instrumental music, therefore killing the genre entirely.
It's quite the recommendation, but I still prefer the Fifth. ;P
