Question for fellow artists on Deviant Art...

Jul 13, 2007 22:43

Do any of you use Deviant Art's prints option? Can you tell me anything about it? Is it worth it? How does it work? Do you think I'd even sell anything?

Thanks!

The deviantart prints SUCK. Not so much the prints themselves, but the service, in my opinion. dA sets a basic price for its merchandise (t-shirts, mugs, prints) and you can raise the price above that base. You can make, I think, what, 10-50% of the profit. That means, oh, for example, say you want to sell a shirt, and the base price is $18. If you set the price to $30, you make a whole $6 at 50% (or $1.20 for 10%. Yes, a whole dollar twenty!!)

If you want to sell stuff, I think you might be better off looking at perhaps cafepress or ezprints. ezprints is actually the service dA uses (my boyfriend uses it, too.) The prints are very lovely, cheap, and fast. So I would recommend bypassing dA and, if you want to sell prints, do it more directly because dA will eat your money.
