My parents left yesterday... I'm depressed about it, but my boy is keeping me amused and busy. I'll see them again in about 4+ months when our daughter is born anyway

There are some feeders designed to deter squirrels; they're much more expensive, but appear to work. I don't have any experience with it myself; any local squirrels seem too shy to bother feeders.
Hmm...maybe a pellet gun and some good recipes for squirrel? ;) Just kidding...kinda. ;D (I'm not against hunting, so long as it's done for a really good reason, and the meat doesn't go to waste.) Otherwise, check into those "Have A Heart" traps and relocate any squirrel you catch, but my brother swears that squirrels are far too smart for those traps, even when you bait them with chocolate, which they CANNOT resist..they just climb in via the side walls of the trap (avoiding the trigger on the bottom), steal the bait, and climb out again the same way. :P
Oh, believe me, I have thought about using a pellet gun (low pressure to sting them). They make me so freaking mad. u_u I have derived more satisfaction from smacking them off our 3rd floor patio with a broom than from eating cravings. *evil cackle* And hey, a LOT of people out here in the South eat squirrel! XD
They are smart, and durable, and cheeky, and freaking greedy. HATE!
Dunno if it is true- But've heard you can put hot stuff- like chili powder-spicey stuff on the seeds- supposedly it won't bother the birds but the squirrels will hate it- might want to google the idea first though :)
I recommend a pellet gun. Be sure you're shooting in a safe direction, practice your aim, and set the power fairly low. You won't kill them but you will knock them around a bit. It shouldn't take long before they learn to avoid your feeder - at least when you're sitting on the porch.
Plus then you get the benefit of the "femme fatale" thing. Your husband will probably like it ;)
