Or, rather, the dreaded song meme.  Yes, I tend to steer clear of the memes, but I really like music, so this one seemed fun.  While I'm not a big lyrics person (great with melodies, terrible with lyircs), I'm still jumping on the boat.  Here's how it works:

1. Put your playlist on shuffle.
2. Post the first lines to the first 30 songs to come up ( ( Read more... )

Indeed I do. The iPod did a nice job of hitting a lot of my favorite bands in this exercise, including Radiohead.

And, yes, those are numbers 8 and 11.

I, conversely, am great with lyrics and awful with tunes. But I only know songs no one else knows, and am thoroughly unfamiliar with the utterly obvious.

4. Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps, as sung by dozens of people including Doris Day and Cake

16. With a Little Help from my Friends

20. Love Shack - the B-52s

I also knew 21 and 25. :) this is the most I've ever recognized on one of these.

Well done on all of them. No. 4 is, in fact, the Cake version of Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps, so you even nailed that one.

24 is Rage Against the Machine. Can't remember the title, though the next line is, I believe, "Now you do what they told ya."

Ok, so had to look that one up. The name of the song is, of course, "Killing in the Name"

The lyrics of the whole song by the way are far from satisfying...

Yep. That's one of the true gimmes on the list, but I guess it does require that one knows that the song title is the same as the first line.

You can't take Rage to task for their lyrics. Power to the people, baby.

I think they may use a total of 20 non-repeated words in the entire song. If that.

With RATM, it's all about the backbeat though.
