Unexpected benefit of getting a fancy DSLR to complement my compact camera: I no longer waste any time trying to get the compact to perform like a DSLR under the technically dubious lighting conditions I'm somehow attracted to, and can look at the images from the compact on their own terms.

Belmont station, last fall. Station rebuild is now complete, including the roof. Now more people can be sheltered from the rain/snow, but you can't see the moon through the roof frame anymore at 6am. Which I thought was pretty neat.
