realization: The time I have in abandonments on any given outing is limited, and often I'm in conflict over whether to photograph these places as documentary, as how they were, to be looked back on in case of future demolition, or simply as how I see them. But I'm trying to avoid that. For me personally, the first path is a distraction, every photo I take from the history-minded documentary perspective ends up boring. I need to remember that there's no shortage of photographers visiting these places, and despite how ephemeral they seem in person, they are inevitably well and permanently documented before I first set foot in them. So I'm free to focus on taking the photos I want.
