It's kind of weird how important language is because most people don't think about it. I recently read an article in which the author discussed the steady shift in the language surrounding the abortion debate, and how changing the common name of a particular type of abortion to 'partial-birth abortion' almost immediately caused sweeping change in people's attitude toward it.

I just refuse to use that term. If someone uses it in a conversation with me instead of the medically correct "dilation and extraction", I stop and correct them, which might make me sound like a pretentious dick, but whatever. It's sad and scary that even pro-choice people basically spout anti-abortion propaganda without realizing it.
