Hi there! I am the maintainer of deafblind... my wife (swampfaye) pointed this out to me.
I am both visually and hearing impaired, which qualifies me to use the term "deafblind", but my impairments are not as severe as Helen Keller's were. I am profoundly deaf, but I have enough hearing to make use of a cochlear implant, and I am legally blind. If I had the choice whether to lose all my vision or all my hearing after I was 10 years old, I would probably prefer to lose all my hearing and be deaf. The reason I say "after 10 years old" s because I would love to know what it is like to have "normal" hearing and vision... That might actually change my opinion, since I've never known what it was like. But as it is, I think I would prefer to be fully deaf than fully blind.
