I was testing out new hearing aids and all and I like what I have still...they did say I could be a candidate for a cochlear implant which one would be where in my right ear kill all the cells because that's my worse ear but if I got another one it would only go part way in the cochlea to maintain that hearing. At this point, I"m not going to because I'm still pregnant!

I tried two different digital aids and they just didn't sit with me well as my analogs do. So if these break, I can order the same ones, they do make them still! So cool.

Whatever you choose, hope it goes well for you! :)

hi, I came over here after I saw a comment you left on a post on deaf. I just wanted to wish you luck on your journey, and, since it's LJ and all, give you my two cents, which you are more than welcome to ignore ( ... )

You totally did not offend me. I had been wondering what your background was when I saw your response in the CI implant on deaf as well :) Very fair I thought, and actually answered the questions, which you also did in response to this post ( ... )

It needs to be recognized that giving a cochlear implant to a profoundly deaf 1 year old, with appropriate speech/language therapy afterwards works. There are many, many children out there now who can easily show that they have age appropriate verbal language. It is no longer a debate among the doctors who see the results. Implants work.

I have no qualms with that at all. In fact, I work as an early interventionists with deaf and hard of hearing children. Almost half of my caseload are children with a cochlear implant or two. All were implanted at age one with at least one implant (some with two), and the ones who are now 2 1/2 ARE on level with language and doing great, but it's all thanks to the parents who part the hard work into making it work for their child ( ... )

Please ignore all grammar mistakes. I'm now pregnant, and often mess up words/grammar when I am pregnant, as it shows in this reply :)
