Paradox

10051 has been nomming my brains and forcing me to write these little one-shot type introspective pieces. XP Hopefully it's IC-ish. Or at least plausible.

“I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m doing this, hm?” Byakuran asked, his voice full of enthusiasm despite his companion’s blank expression.

“Maa, it’s all very simple really,” He continued even though the young girl only blinked at him with empty doll eyes. He wasn’t much bothered by it because he was rarely bothered by anything. The fact of the matter is, he came to her precisely because she was little more than a doll and he needed to talk to someone. Uni would listen, no matter what, and she would never tell a soul, which was something else he needed. Complete secrecy. He knew he was about to divulge highly sensitive information, but, he hated to bottle everything up. He loved a big reveal most of the time, truly, however, it was lonely at times.

Uni watched him without seeing him, without questioning him, just staring through him.

“More tea, Uni-chan?” He sang and poured some from the elegant silver teapot resting on the table between them. She did take the tea, but she didn’t drink from it. Byakuran didn’t much care either way.

“Now, where was I?” He pondered aloud, and when he remembered his smile brightened considerably, “Oh, yes~ The reason I’m going to create a new world is all very simple~” He glanced toward Uni and couldn’t find even a flicker of interest. While it meant the drugs were working, Byakuran was just a teensy bit disheartened, it was so boring to not see any reactions. Shouichi would have done something terribly dramatic, of that the incumbent ruler of the world was sure.

“You have to understand, I’m not really being selfish. The universe promised me something and I just want to make sure I get it~ It isn’t very fair of the universe to break a promise is it?” Byakuran asked. Something in his countenance changed, making him look darker, more sinister.

Uni finally sipped her tea and though her face remained neutral, Byakuran pretended otherwise. He shifted so that his elbows rested on his knees and he clasped his hands together. His lips pursed in thought, as though he wasn’t sure quite how he wanted to tell his story.

“The universe promised me Irie Shouichi. I know this because in every world we meet. Sometimes when we are young, and sometimes when we are adults, but we always meet. How could it not be a sign, hmm? Clearly the universe meant for us to be together, right, Uni-chan?” Byakuran’s voice was eager and childish, yet there was something dangerous lurking in his tone. The man stretched back out into a more comfortable position.

“I’m sure you are thinking that I have Shou-chan, he’s only a few floors away, but you’re wrong Uni-chan.” He lectured, he gave her a sideways glance. Uni just continued sipping at her tea with her blank eyes and blank face. A perfect little doll. A perfectly boring little doll.

“I saw it in this world five years ago. He changed, Uni-chan, but at the same time he’s exactly the same. Five years ago, he looked…disturbed. Disgusted. He tried to hide it. Shou-chan tried desperately to hide it, but I could see it there, in his eyes.” His voice went quiet. Somber. His gaze drifted to something in the distance and he missed the first flicker of interest in Uni’s eyes since their meeting so long ago.

“Shou-chan used to light up when he saw me. His eyes…sparkled. Shou-chan’s grin used to be much brighter. Much more sincere. I used to make him laugh so easily. I could always make him smile, no matter what.”

Byakuran paused and prepared some tea for himself. He added in the sugar and then the honey, and then a pinch more sugar. He stirred it with great care and fixation, as if in that moment all that mattered was the tea. He sipped it and gave a contented sigh.

“So that’s why. I’m going to create a new world where Shou-chan will smile for me again~” He said. His moment of melancholy passed and he was chipper once again. He whistled as he drank. Byakuran knew he would succeed. He knew he would regain what the universe had stolen from him without reason. He would make Shouichi light up again, because Shou-chan’s smile was the best. He wished he knew what had caused it to disappear in the first place, but it didn’t matter. In his new world Shouichi would smile again and it would be just like they were in college.

Byakuran would have his perfect world, even if he created it himself.

Mmmkay, so I took quite a few leaps here, in case you didn't get it: If Shouichi hadn't traveled to the future to see if he had been admited back into the universty, Byakuran won't have destroyed the world. Because Shouichi saw it, he was 'disgusted' by Byakuran when he grew up, but if he hadn't seen it, he wouldn't have been and then Byakuran would not have felt the need to take over the world. My logic? Well, if I were going to take over the world I wouldn't bother with college, ergo his world domination plans started up five years ago when Shouichi got his memories back. :P This took place a few weeks before the start of the TYL!arc. If this still doesn't make sense ask and I will do my best to be more clear!
