YAY I am spending Turkey Day with Jen out in Hermosa Beach!!!  ***Does SUPER Happy Dance***

Found a great flight with Independence Air--nonstop both ways and perfect times.  The Red Eye actually worked out perfectly for this trip and it cost less than $300 round trip so YAY.  Just waiting for Travelocity to issue my tix (my friends told me it could ( Read more... )

I love FlyI. That's what I'm taking out to Vegas for my sister's wedding. They also took a row of seats out of every plane, so they have a smidge more leg room than the other airlines. The exit row is fabulous if you can get it...my feet don't even touch the seat in front of me! (though I'm only 5'1," so that might have something to do with it). Brian was even ok, when we were in the last row, backed up to the bathroom, and the seats didn't go back...and he's 6'3." We also like them because we can get direct flights from Dulles to Portland, ME....no one else does that :-)

I always try to get the exit row, do they let you change your seats when you check in?? USAirways lets you select the exit row when you check in but American made me go to the desk at the gate and have them change it.

OOOOOH tell me all about your Independence Air experience... did you get the entertainment thingie or the pillows or blankets? If not did you see anyone who did? I assume you get to keep the pillow/blanket if you buy it?

LOL sorry to bombard you but you're the first person I have talked to who has actually flown Independence Air, let alone heard of them.

FlyI lets you select the Exit row if you pick your seats online, I've never bought them through another website though. I usually get good deals right on their site. (sometimes if you pick a flight, wait 20 minutes and let the browser time out, the site will pop up a coupon to get you to go ahead and book the tickets)

The Vegas trip will be my first long one. The trip to Maine is only about an hour and a half, so we didn't buy anything. I'm usually good to read and knit. We also didn't see anyone with them, I'm pretty sure they only offer the entertainment stuff on the cross country flights...but mine is in October, so I can let you know then.

I don't really care about frills, so I like that Independence is kind of like Southwest (another good one to look at for cheap flights...and the only airline that actually still making a profit), you get a drink and a snack, they do bring around hot towels...but like I said, I'm good with my knitting and a book, so it doesn't take much to please me :-) at least on an airplane.

LOL I am so not a frills person, I bring my own food if I want it so I'm happy with the snack and beverage they bring around. I booked my ticket through Travelocity (I could kick myself for not going directly to flyi.com) but I e-mailed flyi to ask if they could apply my reservation to my iClub number so I can change seats and check in online. We'll see.

It does look like that stuff is only available on cross-country flights so you'll have to give me the scoop after your Vegas trip. I don't mind paying for a pillow and blanket if they are better than what you usually get, and you get to keep them. I'm ALWAYS cold on airplanes so they will come in handy whenever I fly, especially on my Red Eye flight back home... lol.

I always FlyI when I can. They're phenomenal. Although their flights are frequently late out of Dulles. Still when they are they give you airline credit and free drinks so you can get smashed. :-D

Plenty of leg room, a selection of snacks, and hot towels at the end of your flight. And apparently the Cali flights have lots of little amenities. Have fun with that!

WOO HOO!!! I'm so excited to hear from people who have actually flown them! I have short legs so it sounds like I'll be ok wherever I end up. Do you know if they have a self check-in kiosk at Dulles? I'm concerned that since I booked through Travelocity I won't be able to check in on flyi.com.

Yeah they have a self check in kiosk. And no you can't check in on flyi.com. I've tried and failed.

Once I was 3 hours late but since I never plan for anything else to do on days I fly and I was trashed before the plane even took off it was a good flight hehe

LMAO no comment...

Thanks for the info, I will plan to check in at the kiosk (I try to avoid people as much as possible in airports...lol). I assume I can select my seat right then?

LOL now I want Thanksgiving to hurry up and get here!!!!
