Dude, they've (Nolan, WB, DC, and others) have said numerous times that they are basically starting over with a clean slate and are going to follow the comics more. As you noticed, the Joker didn't kill Bruce's parents in this one. I for one think this is great. As much as I love Burton's films, Joel Schumacher almost killed the franchise and they need this to make it fresh. I flipping loved it.

I agree with the old franchise being crap, but I take it even further: the Tim Burton films were bad as well. There. I said it. I can list for you about a fifteen reasons why they were bad, but I'm not going to here. I'm glad you liked it as much as I did.
