LJ Facebook/Twitter work around to get rid of the annoying boxes

Sep 09, 2010 07:41

UPDATE: sloot: MEH - this doesn't appear to quite work, even after I verify the CSS as working in webdeveloper. Hopefully someone smarter than me at this stuff will sort it out.

Good to know.

By the way, I see those ticky boxes at the bottom of this comment box. ;)

Do you keep your style on for other journals? (&style=mine in the URL)

it seems to disable the boxes, but they are still visible...

I think they're disabled if you haven't configured your twitter/facebook connect settings.

I'm not sure I follow this. This doesn't stop crossposting, it just hides the little boxes, which aren't present if you don't enable FB connect. So why not just not use FB connect?

My understanding is this:

If I don't use FB connect, but you do, you can crosspost your reply to my entry on your FB.

By hiding the little tickyboxes, it means that people can't select that option.

Right. So the worry is that people on my FB would see your (possibly sensitive) LJ content?

Correct. LJ is all a twitter about this change (on aug 31) and LJ admin hasn't responded to the comcerns
