a few weeks ago, i contact senator patty murray's office through phone and email about my concern over John Roberts. I told them that i would prefer that she vote no in his congressional confirmation hearings. I got this email back from "her" (surely a mass-email) today.

Scary as all hell, but truthfully Roberts is the lesser of the two recently-appointed evils. If you looked at the possible candidates list before the nominations, Roberts was probably the best we could've hoped for, which says something in itself I suppose. But Harriet Miers scares the shit out of me. Miers was president of the Texas Bar Association from 1992-1993 and led a campaign to have the ABA end its practice of supporting abortion-on-demand and taxpayer-funded abortions. And there's not even a judicial record of her, because she has no judicial experience. By appointing her, the court is now unbalanced. She has an extremely threatening element of surprise on her side. Roe v. Wade could be overturned in the matter of a year. We can only hope for the best.
