I tried running, but after a month it was painfully obvious that my body was not constructed for it. I had imagined that each stride should feel like a fluid motion instead of a crashing train. An hour on the elliptical or on a bicycle feels infinitely better.
And yeah, pseudo science really punches rationality in the balls. It feels great and loosens troublesome muscle tension. No need to cure cancer, too. I think it must be an expression of people's need to do "important" work.
Exactly! I always describe it to clients as the massage industry's "desperate need to seem far more essential than it actually is," which actually cheapens it, in my mind.
