Breakups are always messy, even when they're amicable and friendly. I think sometimes people trash talk their exes (like in your case) because there is unexpressed feelings that should be worked out, such as he knows he did you wrong but can't admit it so he channels that into hostility towards you. Anyway, its not you, its all him.

Do you regret moving to DC? It sounds somewhat ambivalent from your post.

Well, I've been in the DC area for 16 years, and I like it here. It was more the living situation that I was ambivalent about. I was renting a room from a couple that I knew, and they broke up the night before I moved in, so the dynamic was awkward, to say the least. Also, it was in northeast DC, which isn't a bad thing, exactly, it was just that nothing was conveniently located. And sometimes it took be 2 hours to get to work, even though it was only 7 miles away. Even on the motorcycle, it took close to an hour most of the time

What kind of motorcycle do you have? I used to have a Buell 500cc, but I sold it last year.

It's a Yamaha Bolt. A little cramped for a guy my size, but I plan to get something more roomy in a couple of years.
