" Him again? I told you he's too dark to be hanging out with."

The voice of his friend makes him look up, away from Imori. As usual, he offers a brilliant smile for an answer and a small shrug of his shoulders. Imori doesn't look dark, he just looks like he hasn't slept well in a while and Yuugi can understand that. He's had a few of those nights himself recently.

" He seems okay. " Is all he can really say back. Imori and he are friends, aren't they? Are they still? He bites his lip, stealing a glance at the other boy who once more waves discreetly and blushes. Just that small action is enough to make his worry ease a bit. He should remember more about himself and Imori but the story is missing pages. Jounochi is still warning him about 'people like that', but he's only half-listening. Imori had called him a traitor. Had he apologized? Had Imori? The train of thought is dispelled when the teacher walks in and isn't revisited until he finds another note in his locker at the end of the day. Another invitation to the boys house. He should stay away, but maybe if he goes he can find some answers.

Maybe he won't, and maybe it'll just be a normal afternoon with a new friend. One who likes games as much as he does, one who seems so much like himself. He can't think of anything he'll lose by visiting with Imori. So he shows up after classes with a bright smile and some strange sort of hope in his heart. Rather than be lead down into the secret cellar though, Imori shows him upstairs to his bedroom with a quiet laugh and the claim that his parents won't be around 'till late.

"We can do it here Yuugi-kun."

As happy as he is to have a new friend, and to be spending time with him, there's something about the way Imori says that to him, that rubs him the wrong way. He finds out why a moment later when the other boy presses close to him and kisses him. He's so shocked by it, that he can't even move for several seconds, simply lost for words or actions. It's his first kiss, and of all the ways he imagined it, another boy was not factored into the equation.

" I-Imori-kun! "

This is probably why he does not make a very good friend. He isn't a giving enough person. First it was homework and now this.

" I don't think.. I don't think we should do that." He's already got a crush. He likes Anzu. He likes girls. Imori is fine for a friend, but not for anything more. At least not without them getting to know each other better. He thinks of the last person who claimed to have affection for him. It's a vague memory, though it shouldn't be. There was a pretty girl.. pretty gifts..but that didn't turn out well did it? No. Obviously not. He doesn't even know where that girl is anymore.

He's blushing, embarassed, and even confused. Imori just seems confused.

" But.. I told you.. My parents won't be home for a long time. I mean.. This isn't about school is it? I didn't tell anyone.. " Yugi wonders what looks must be flashing across his face for Imori to start and stop like that, trying out different reasoning for them to carry on. " I'm okay for it. It's not like it hurts still or ...anything." There's no reason for there to be a chill in the room, the windows are all closed after all, but Yugi still feels like someone just dropped an ice-cube down the back of his shirt.

"Imori-kun..What are you talking about?"

He asks because he needs to know, yet he's not sure he wants to hear the answer. He's almost positive that he doesn't want to hear it.

" Yesterday Yuugi-kun.. Th-The Game for two..?"

It's the way Imori blushes, the way he glances aside, and shuffles his feet. It's the way Imori's voice drops to a whisper, that he knows that they're not really talking about a game. Those are all the same reactions he has when the topic of sex comes up in conversation. He's stil a boy who can't ask a girl if they are indeed out on a date after all. Not for the first time he becomes severely afraid of the gaps in his memory.

" I have to go now Imori-kun. " He has to, because he feels like he's about to lose his mind. So he breaks into a run, stung by the voice shouting after him. It was never his intention to be mean. He's sorry, but does that help?

He doesn't stop running until he's in the safety of his room above the Game Shop. On his bed he breaks down, sobbing and trying to muffle it. What's happening to him? Has he really done such an indecent thing? Why can't he remember?

He feels like dying.. and then.. just like that.. he feels okay. A blackness that is slowly starting to become familiar envelops him, and he sleeps. In dreams there are no more worries.

The next day at school there are worries though.

Imori is in the hospital, and he won't wake up.
