looking at them again, i'd like to see the close-up ones without using the flash. the colours will be more vivid and natural, like in the water lily one, which is really good.
... which just goes to show how much I have to learn about this photography caper. I had the flash on because it was about 7pm, light was fading fast, and a storm was rolling in. That, and the fact I didn't know how to actually turn it off :/
I tried to take some pics of the approaching storm but I guess it takes a real art (or genius) to capture clouds well. They looked stunning to the eye but the photos were sub-par.
find out how to turn the flash off. if you're using a little point and shoot digital, it should adjust to cater for the lack of light. i'd rather take a bad photo than use a flash, unless it's like patrick's, where you can regulate the direction and brightness and all that.
but you're halfway there, with good composition.
i'd ask christy for advice, but she'd tell us to stick our digital cameras where you should never have the need to take a photo.
Yeah, but Christy's one of a rare breed to do what she does with film. I couldn't even pretend to do that, so I'll stick with the digital. Will definitely work out how to turn off the flash, but even so, I don't think I'll ever be one of those people who labour over a frame - not because I don't think it's worth the time and/or effort, but rather because I don't really know what 'composition' is in terms of photography. It's nice of you to say that, but really, the photo of the rose is the only one of the six above where I actually 'framed' it. The others were little more than point and shoot, and actually, the last one was taken from a moving car with the window wound up.
