Mixed feelings about today.

So, today is the tenth anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, which obviously takes precedence for many people in this country, as so many lives were impacted. Thankfully, my own wasn't one of them, though of course that is not to say that I don't care deeply for those who were lost, and those that have been left behind. However, though I, like so many others, will never forget who and where and what I was on that day, it certainly didn't cement its place in my life as it did so many others.

On this, the tenth anniversary of 9/11/01, I have lost someone I love and will forever miss. My great uncle was 96, but the knowledge that he was probably ready to go (he's been sick for months) doesn't make it any easier on us. I guess it just goes to show you that time goes on but loss does not.

I can hear the bagpipes from the 9/11 tribute going on outside, and I don't think that there's any better way for me to express what I'm feeling right now; they're saying it all for me, I think.

I will always remember 9/11/01, and I will always remember 9/11/11.

RIP Uncle Tony, 1915-2011

i know you want to know about my life, i'm gonna sing the doom song now
