Missed you here too! Take it easy, don't feel guilty about what you missed but always feel free to check in when you have the time and wish to :)
Unless you like being reminded of work-stress (who does??) you may want to skip my past few months' posts anyway :) I'm finally at a point I probably should have been already, giving myself a firm rule of no more new projects until several current ones end and I can see my monthly workload decreasing. Maybe you've also reached the point of "no more"? I know we both enjoy the work we do, but when it gets to be so life-taking-over that we have no free time for any other hobbies or socializing, that can't be a good thing.
I've definitely reached the point of no more, some time ago, in fact! As recent examples, I could have taken on a new series with one of my favorite editors, starting this fall, but I had to pass. Then last week I was asked to pinch-hit a single volume of a different series with one of my other favorite editors, and I had to pass on that, too! I am very much at capacity. The money would be nice, but...I do need to sleep. :B
I do plan on reading your posts about work. C: It's interesting to see how other letterers do their thing, and balance work with life and stuff!
That sounds rough! I hope a couple of your current projects are on the shorter side so you get relief soon!
(Heh heh, not sure I'm doing so hot at that whole balancing-work-with-life thing myself. Spoiler for my work posts: I begged my way into Viz as soon as they announced a certain series at NYCC. And that's part of why I really have to be firm on no more new projects. Having obtained the title I wanted more than any other, I should exercise contentment now :) )
Heywow, congrats!! If it's been officially announced, you can totally name the title. What is it?? :DDD
If you have any questions about how Viz likes things to be done, just ask and I'll be glad to help. ^^V Oh, who is your editor?? That's a big one, b/c every editor likes things differently. (Probably best to switch to email!)
I'm glad to see your post :) You've been missed - no need to feel guilty, I know you're busy. I'm sorry that you're super stressed. I like to read more, post when you can, and please take it easy. Sending stress-decreasing vibes.
I am actually looking forwards to Yule this year, simply for the fact that everyone who ever made me miserable at the holidays are all dead. Thus, no stress. No plans, no tree, No big scheduling issues.. just.. peace and quiet.
Actual holidaze shenanigans are stressful for me, too! But I was actually talking about the Yuletide Fanfiction Gift Exchange. *sheepish grin* If you sign up, you write a 1k word minimum fanfiction story for a person's requested canon and specific characters. You receive one in return, written for YOUR requested canon and characters. It is INCREDIBLY fun, and also can be INCREDIBLY stressful.
This year I'm hoping to write "treats", which are stories written for someone as above, except you aren't officially signed up, which means you won't receive a story in return, and the person you wrote for will also be receiving a story from their assigned writer. C:
There is a lot in my LJ to catch up on if you get around to it. I hope it is entertaining reading!
I know about being alone. I am a bit disappointed...coming back to the area after a long time in Montana, I was thinking for a while that my life here would be a constant social whirl. Now that we are in November and things are cold and the days are short, I am feeling pretty isolated.
Congrats on making it back to Portland, I know how much you like it here. I hope you don't let the rainy dark days drag you down too much. Portland is still alive and kicking! It's just a bit soggy and needs a flashlight at times. XD
