Pakistani Chicken Curry
1 whole chicken cut into pieces (I cut the breast into 4 pieces) 1/4 cup cooking oil 2 onions sliced
Spices: 2 teaspoons cumin 1 1/2 teaspoon coriander 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 to 2 teaspoons cayenne (Red Pepper) amount depends on how hot you want curry to be 1 teaspoon tumeric 2 teaspoons garlic powder 2 sticks of cinnamon
Water to cover chicken
4 slices of ginger root 4 - 6 cloves of garlic chopped 2 tomatoes thinly sliced. 1 red or green hot pepper with seeds removed (if desired)
Yogurt and sour cream to taste (approx. 2 cups)
In large frying pan saute onion in the cooking oil until onion is golden brown. Add spices to the onion then place chicken in the pan (with onion and spices) and brown. Add water, ginger root, garlic and tomatoe. Cook over low heat for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Remove from heat and add yogurt and sour cream.
