Unlike what feels the be the majority of the school, I'm actually enjoying having my dad around. I'll admit, I feel a little awkward wearing my Western robes while Dad wears his beautiful Eastern robes, but there's not much I can do about thatExcept to, you know, not wear the school uniform

No, that's just a slug. Modeled off my familiar Katsuya.

A kappa is more like child-sized turtle that stands upright and has human-like limbs, though their hands and toes are webbed so as to let them swim as well as fish. They have turtle-shells on their backs, and are completely hairless.

My parents told me that kappa drowned people, which doesn't seem very nice at all! Then again, they're Muggles, and I have to admit I haven't done much research into real kappa since learning I was a wizard.

I always thought they sounded cute, though, since they were so polite. I mean, it's not that scary if you can just beat them by bowing to them!

Well, there are stories about kappa drowning people, but I don't hear them as often as I seem to read about merfolk luring ships onto rocks and dragging people under water.

Kappa speak Japanese, too, so I like that.

That's true! But I guess here it's more common to hear about merfolk, so it's hard to tell. Maybe I'll ask one of the professors sometime.

Aw, that's cute! My Japanese isn't very good, so I'd be worried about offending them.

I could help you practice your Japanese! That way you wouldn't have to worry about offending a kappa if you were to ever meet one.
