The longest, toughest part of this will be character creation, because the combo of options plus my indecisive nature results in a stalemate of sorts.

Race? Probably elf. That's probably a typical girl choice. Whatever.

Reading the elf origin stories-- wtf with the city elf rape scenario? Yeesh. Is that like the renegade option?

It is definitely compelling in its darkness! It could be interesting to play someone so damaged and angry.

City Elf origin definitely packs an emotional punch. Some of the other Origins do as well, though through different means.

I played through all of the origins at one point - lots of saved games sitting there waiting for me, haha!

It's true I can do multiple playthroughs, so I don't know why I agonize so much over it. I guess since it's the first one, and I'll know the story any go round after.
Of course if I choose Mage, there's only one backstory which would make it simpler. But Rogue is intriguing. Warrior seems the most straightforward a la soldier in ME.

What type of Warrior? Two-handed, weapon-and-shield, duel-weapon with heavy armour, duel-weapon with light armour, archer with light armour, archer with heavy armour, or crossbow archer? ... I'm not helping am I?

Not gonna lie, Rogue is one of my favourites! (Dual Wield with Poison Talent, omg)

Mages can be incredibly powerful though. There are a ton of spells for just about anything.

I've not done Warrior of any kind in DA:O, but they tend to be tanky and draw a lot of aggression from mooks.

City elf is one of the darker Origins. What can I say, it sucks to be an elf in Thedas.

I played dual-wielding rogue my first time, and loved it. I'm doing a warrior run at the moment, which I'm enjoying, but rogue is still my favourite in DAO.

I do have a city elf character started and I loved the backstory, but my canon warden is human - loved the political tie-ins with some of the characters later on, and other things. Don't want to spoil you. ;)

The city elf origin is my favorite. Yes, it's dark and gritty and traumatizing, but that's part of what nailed it home fast that this was *not* going to be a typical save the world game. Whee! I think everyone loves their first origin most though, whichever one they picked. =)
