AHHH BEAU SIA. I fucking love Beau Sia. Especially the poem "Love," and of course, "Howl." I haven't liked the stuff I've seen from him recently, though. I'm happy that you're happy.
Yeah, I had just seen him perform when that picture was taken, and I actually wasn't that impressed. When I was at explo I was really into his "asian men are hung like horses" poem and so my 15 year old self was really starstruck when he came to SLC. haha that picture is so grosssss.
How are you?! We haven't spoken in like six months!
I was just in poetry conference the other day and found myself trying to explain your class and how I first got interested in poetry. my professor was like "a slam... class?"
That doesn't surprise me. Here, its sort of split... most people don't know much about it, but there's this one girl who seems pretty well known in the slam world... I think she went to nationals or something?
PS Your entry sparked my interest in Humanistic Judaism. I've been looking for an answer to the Jewish Identity Question, as I've been exploring early Judaism in a class of mine. I feel like I need a more modernized version of Judaism than the conservative movement offers me. I'd like to learn about tradition and then deviate from that, kind of like Picasso. blahblahblah
