i'm appalled by men these days, these boorish, oafish men who push past you to jump on the same train car you've just been waiting for patiently. these unshaven, colonge-heavy brutes who bury their noses in mcdonald's breakfasts and the short version of the front page, scoffing and snorting their chunks of over-processed food. these flabby, pimpled ( Read more... )

you know, I respect this entry on some levels. But at the same time, I'm slightly disheartened. Not by you vivian, but by these guys that are so prevalent and fulfill the male stereotype. In this, guys who aren't of the sort mentioned above, guys who aren't filthy, oafish, booring, etc are given the shaft (hopefully I'm a part of the non-group).

In either sense, our job just becomes harder.

... and I don't eat McDonald's.

you know, wes, i am disheartened, too. because there are so few gentlemen in this world (and not that many ladies, either, i'll be honest), and their jobs are made harder by those who fill stereotypes such as the ones that i described.

it's a fine line i walk, wes, being a FEMINIST (all capitals because i am NOT afraid to declare it) and wanting just a little more from these men than what i see. i'm just lucky to have a gentleman in my life who isn't afraid to call me a lady.

I must say, your situation is definitely a difficult one (being a feminist and wanting more from men). The concept of gentlemen and ladies is nearly dead. I don't see it as a truly difficult thing to do, it's all a respect issue... and yet so many can't fathom it.

I guess some people enjoy objectifying and being objectified.
