Cosplay costumes. Anime Boston this spring. I need opinions, pretty please.
Friday is a more minor day, so I've got an easier costume planned. This is Rin from Fate/Stay Night, which I have not seen:
Owned those shoes prior; have since bought sweater and skirt. Sewing on white cross could get tricky for me w/ zero skills. But hair ribbons and stockings are a cinch. By the time the con gets here, I will finally have straight hair that is a shade darker, ironically, so I will not need a wig. One costume down.
Saturday is the big day. I want to do something complicated, which means will likely be paying for a ready made costume rather then making it myself. I do not want a wig (so costly!) but if I must, I shall, and I'll be damn sure it can double as another character's hair so I get more use out of it.
I don't know who to dress as! Opinions for Saturday's ensemble?
This is Utena. Never seen the series, but her character intrigues me. She met a prince when she was little, and decided that she wanted to become one herself. (No, not a princess, a prince.) She ends up accidentally engaged to a girl that she has to fight to protect.
Note long pink hair. 'Tis exactly like Lacus Clyne's. (Will not be Lacus this year, as much as I love her. Too complicated for me as have no Haros or desire to wear dress.) I have loved this outfit as long as I can remember, due to its combo military/magical girl style.
There's also Cagalli from SEED. I will make a horrible blonde. (But a short wig will cost less, and it so happens that I could use that hair later for Victoria from Hellsing.) This is her uniform for when she's in Orb, being political and war-ish and actually having to admit she's a princess and the heir of a nation.
I want a type of military uniform terribly, if you can't already tell. And hence, THE ALMIGHTY ZAFT UNIFORM. Did you think I'd forget about that?
Gods, the orgasms that uniform can cause. I can go as Shiho, and will not have to change my hair, as she is female (and is cool enough to wear the male uniform version like I want to). But what I'd rather do is get a short brown wig, and cross dress as Kira Yamato. (Yes, he is with the Earth Forces, but there is one minor time he dons the enemy's uniform.) It'll be him because Kira + that uniform = ironic, and because Kira is brunette like me. Face it - I would not make a good blue-headed Athrun or a silver-headed Yzak. Have no tan hence cannot be Dearka. Too tall for Nicol. But crossdressing sounds fun, and I want to go as a guy, I really do.
There's Linali (what's the right spelling of her name?) from D.Gray-Man, which am not done watching. I love her uniform as well:
Black and white makes me drool. I do adore that one.
Now Sunday's outfit. (Am going to be broke. This is sad. So much for having money left to buy merchandise.) Another more minor day, but I want to go out with a bit of a bang still.
Sailor Jupiter, of course. Her hair is perfect. (I'd be stretching a bit for Rin and Linali. My hair will be dark, but not that dark like them. Just right for Jupiter, though.) And green is my favorite color. Also, she's taller than the other Scouts, so my height makes it perfect.
It's like a dance leotard. I can do that. My only issue is her boots and tiara. I'm screwed as far as those accessories go.
Or, here's Yomiko Readman from Read Or Die. Simple enough outfit for me to find myself:
Note glasses. That means I can wear mine and not have to walk around blind all day for the sake of my costume. Smart.
Or, what's-her-face from Ergo Proxy. Have not watched enough to remember her name. Could not find good pictures of outfit, but can put it together from stuff in normal clothing stores. The color in the full body shot is wrong, but you get the idea:
It's a smart, classy outfit. Not a military uniform, but still. Oh, and check out the eye make-up on this chick:
Intense. She does blue or purple, I believe. I can't do that make-up. Call in the pros.
Those are my choices. I have two more if all else fails. Their hair is actually easiest and looks exactly like mine already. (Our leading lady from Fruits Basket and Risa from D.N. Angel.) They're too cute and schoolgirl-ish for me though, so those are strictly last resort options.
What should I wear? I have no idea. Go. Discuss. Solve my issues for me.
