About half of the color words out there are completely unrecognizable to me, and for most of the rest I have no idea whether the color I imagine for them is anywhere near what the writer intended.

If you tell me that something is "royal", the closest I'll be able to come is "blue". Maybe a saturated blue. *shrug* I'm pretty far out on the oblivious end of the curve.
