Today I received a letter...
"Thank you for your interest and recent participation in the hiring process for the position of Fire Fighter 4 with the Mountain View Fire Protection District (MVFPD).  The purpose of this letter is to extend to you a conditional offer of employment"

That's my advice summed up. Put some thought into it. Consider what each choice offers, and demands. Discuss with the wife. ;)

I wish I could tell you which way to go, but I'm not even remotely close enough to the situation to judge. I mean, heck, I'm still at the Herald after... umm... almost fifteen years? To me, the job isn't perfect, but it's good, it's stable, it's familiar - and all that means more to me than other options. But that's me.

All I know is that if you take it you can stop by our place anytime. And I might bug you to let me stop by with my camera on my time off.

There is something about big fish/something pond, but you know that.

The drive would suck.

What does your lovely wife think? That might be a little important.
