Okay, I know this is sort of stupid, but I'm a little depressed by what Colin Morgan says about the whole Arthur/Merlin thing in an interview ( http://gealach-ros.livejournal.com/62845.html)

It's not that I think Arthur/Merlin is going to be canon. And I don't even really think they make it so slashy on purpose (well, I kind of do. Kind of. ( Read more... )

Mike and Bryan, stop being mean. We tolerate your dorking out about kung-fu and your big ol' man crushes on Sifu Kisu, so you should tolerate our shipping and fic!

I guess that's true. It could be worse. But i still think the "bizarre" and "strange" stuff was a little strong. Though yeah, I can see why he can't be like "LOL WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT I *WRITE* MERLIN/ARTHUR FIC ALL THE TIME" ahahaha, that would be sort of awesome though.

sigh, but you are right. it could be worse. ty bb!

Sigh, I was a little disappointed too, but I have to admit that I thought Colin's remarks about the Internet being a "dangerous place" were not so much mean as hilarious. Colin Morgan is scared of the ickle wee fangirls! OH NOES! I admit, sometimes we are terrifying.

But no, I know what you mean, and I think I've just gotten used to it? At the same time, just because the actors don't see it doesn't mean that it isn't as slashy as we think it is. I mean, one of the ideas of slash is that homoerotic subtext often goes unidentified even if real life, and definitely in fiction...and TPTB have admitted that they do see some subtext. It's like Hugh Laurie said that one time a fangirl asked him about House/Wilson (which, ack, made me cringe, but Hugh Laurie was at least freaking awesome about it) - "any of those relationships is believable, two people can always find some kind of attraction or comfort". EVEN WHEN THEY DON'T REALIZE IT ( ... )

be afraid, Colin. Be very afraid! The internet is after you! Talk about the pen being more powerful than the sword. Or in this case, the online community being more intimidating than real-life encounters. hee hee hee.

Hugh Laurie's response was awesome! And made me love him even more. But yeah, I hate when fans talk about stuff like that. And asking J2 about Wincest? Come on, just don't. But when fans do do stuff like that, I wish everyone could just play it off well instead of Colin Morgan's "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT CRAZY PEOPLE WRONG WRONG WRONG!"

I also very much appreciate your turning this around as a fodder for rps! Yes! I feel so much better now!

See, we have such power! A rather perverse kind of power, true, but it's still exciting! (I, er, also just submitted the revised version of my SPN paper to TWC, and spent a lot more time in it talking about fan power and influence and YAY!) He'll grow to appreciate it eventually.

AUGH, asking anyone about Wincest kills me, though they are taking it fairly well these days. *coughTheMonsterAtTheEndofThisBookcough* Even worse: telling Jared and Jensen about RPF about them. I mean, I know Misha's thrilled by that kind of thing, but the boys were definitely scared the first time they heard it. Again, now they're used to it - four years of acting in SPN will do that to you, I guess ( ... )

Also: any disappointments you might have will be instantly cured by THIS. (!!!!!!)

Sorry I missed your call, but things are mildly crazy at the moment so I cannot call back just yet! I should not be on the Internet, I really should not. DDD:

I have seen very little of merlin, but everything I have seen is gay gay gay. Some actors just don't want to admit it (unlike some hobbit-y actors I know of, who admitted to the existence of him "having beautiful sex with Elijah Wood" somewhere on the internet"). It's hard to be a teenager/twentysomething who's not that comfortable with his sexuality but plays a slashy character that ppl write about all day.

I guess that's true, it would be pretty weird. Also because he hasn't been famous at all before now, and all of a sudden he's on TV in all sorts of places, and has an army of fans who write fic and make videos and generally worship him. That'd probably freak me out just a little bit too!

I'm very glad you see the gay too though. At least I know it's not just me.
