In the days leading up to FWA, a lot of the parts I ordered for my motorcycle arrived.
Also picked up some much needed tools from Sears.
In addition to the bad ass 260 piece set and brake bleeder, I also purchased a 1/2" drive 25-250 ftlb torque wrench and a 3/8" drive 5-80 ftlb torque wrench. Both have already come in handy with the work I'm performing to the bike.
Both fortunately and unfortunately, I wasn't able to get started before it was time to depart for FWA.
The drive up was fun with the ride being shared with
kryphos,
bluefoxiecat,
mangusu and myself. The ride up was uneventful and pleasant.
FWA itself was better than last year as there was A LOT more hangout space due to the renovation project having been completed which is a huge change for the hotel. I made an effort this con to not fall asleep before 12:00 which I think I succeeded at as one morning I went to bed at 6AM so I think I can check that off as mission accomplished.
This year was also different in that I suited a lot more than I have been as of late. I don't classify it as not wanting to but rather seeing it as a hassle. I had lots of fun running around and acting like a goof which was a nice change of pace. Even got to beat on a bass drum for this guy in the fursuit parade which was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I have to give props to the band peeps that wear that shit for hours on end.
Every day and night of the con was a new adventure of good times with friends. I assisted with hosting my first ever panel with
mangusu in the Furry Dating Game which had a good turnout considering we rivaled a large ballroom event. We've already been granted a main ballroom slot for next year which means we have the flexibility to develop the panel and make it turn out even better. This con was also the first time I've ever performed in a masquerade skit. I was the "horse" in
mangusu's recreation of "Look at my Horse".
Overall, I had an awesome time socializing more with friends and staying up past midnight. Going to be interesting to see what Anthrocon brings. :)
The drive back was equally uneventful with the time being spent playing with the DS Lite I picked up from
CloudPouncer before the con. This rekindled my love of the Game Boy system which prompted me to pickup the latest release of Pokemon: Soul Silver Version. Way back in the day before I was glued to my computer, I was an avid Game Boy and Pokemon fan. While I'm still getting back into the series, a lot of things are the same as they were in my Pokemon Red Version that I used to play on my Brickboy.
The first day back to work from a con is always the hardest but this time around, I actually woke up early even though I arrived back close to midnight. I took advantage of this time to make it up to Daytona an hour before I needed to head into work. I spent the morning enjoying breakfast while watching the sun rise which has to be one of the most relaxing things one can do.
I was able to attend
HeartWood's Spring Party which as always, was a blast.
draco751 had fun showing off his Jägermeister machine which was put to good use.
With things returning into the normal swing of things, I set to work taking my bike apart to install the various aftermarket and upgrade parts I've purchased so far. I'm not going to go into every detail but here are some pics of the progress and parts I've purchased.
Phew! It's hard to imagine that so much time has passed but as they say, time flies when you're having fun. Going to keep chugging away with working on the bike and working at work. Found out they added two events for me to go to so in addition to working the Darlington Cup event, they're also sending me to support the Darlington Truck race and the Homestead Miami IRL event. Should be fun =D
PS. More constant updates
