I've once again fallen into the cycle of neglecting my LJ. Lots has gone by and some things have changed. Some for the good, one for the worse. No real primary subject to this entry, just various things that have been going on.
Following my trackday last June, I was able to goto Anthrocon. Ended up leaving the Wednesday before after work. Loaded up the car with a Mox and
mangusu then hit the road.
The next 16 hours were filled with fun, music, jokes, and some sleep. Was fun to see the lolwut range the Golf can achieve. Made it to about 675 miles on the tank before the light came on. I ended up driving most of the way which probably wasn't a good idea seeing as I had worked from 8-5 before I left. Made it to 24hrs awake before I turned the wheel over to Mox for an hr or so while I napped. Swapped again after breakfast/lunch at Subway before the final push to the hotel. Had a scary moment in the tunnel when the guy ahead of me braked suddenly and if not for my VeeDub's awesome brakes, I would have probably hit them. Ended up getting into Pittsburgh around 10:00 am
AC was a blur of fun times with friends. However, it also included some things I regret doing but wont get into. I try to avoid situations where I put myself in a bad position but just sometimes I'm stupid and end up fucking myself or hurting people I care about. I always try to learn from my mistakes which I hope I can do.
The drive home was just as eventful as the drive up. Felt a bit quicker this time without the anticipation of Anthrocon but I was beat to hell by the time I got back home. Was going to go into work but ended up sleeping all day which my body was thankful for. I know I said this last time but I dont want to drive to AC again D: another big thanks goes to
kryphos and
bluefoxiecat for making my AC trip possible. I really owe you guys and I havent forgotten.
As soon as I came back from AC I was thrust into another fun round of wackyness with supporting the Coke Zero 400. Like I said on my Twitter, changing one set of con badges for another.
The event went well and I was able to get some nice OT.
Was able to have a nice, relaxing 4th of July cookout at a friends house. Never knew how much I'd love grilling which makes me want to get my own. Also started playing with fireworks which is never a good idea for me. >_>
The next few weeks were spent working on costumes for Dragon*Con. Was a first for me to make costumes. Not enough thanks can be given to
sophiecabra for all of her help. I have my stupid "huh" moments and she really helped me get all my stuff together in time. :)
Amurika water!
While working on D*C stuff I was also able to remake the paws for my fursuit and attach them. Also ended up redoing my feetpaws which are now much more comfortable! So many thanks to
latinvixen02 for showing me how to make the paws and being an awesome and patient teacher. I'm really proud with how they came out. :)
A new week started finding myself driving once again to Darlington, SC to support the Camping World Truck Series event. Was kinda nice as it wasnt the same kind of insane circus that the Sprint Cup events bring which made it a bit more relaxing for me and gave us some time to work on less critical enhancements. Packed up my mobile office and hit the road for the week.
While I had some free time in Darlington, I continued looking at job listings for Lockheed. I've been wanting to move on from where I currently am to something that was in the Orlando area that paid better. I applied to about four different positions I applied for and they ended up calling me when I got back to schedule a phone screening! Shortly there after they called for a full phone interview which went well. Ended up getting a call last week that they're offering me the "Help Desk Sr" position! Starting pay is a little over a 50% increase in what I'm making now. There is still a decent amount of processing type stuff for me to do such as my background check and drug screening which I have no worries about unless they go back to when I was in middle school and question me about a referral I got or something silly. Once I have a definite starting date, I'm going to give my two weeks and close this chapter in my professional history. I have enjoyed my 3 years with ISC but I don't see myself progressing within the company as IT is such a small sector of what ISC does. I know if things work out with Lockheed, I will have areas to move up and into if I'm willing to work for it.
Went to Dragon*Con this weekend which wsa a first for me. I throughly enjoyed it as a change to what I've come to expect what a con is. I'm looking forward to coming back next year. Will post up more about it later with pictures.
Life has been crazy for the past few months but things are moving along. Some things have happened that aren't so great but life goes on.
