Salazar Slytherin left a Basilisk and only parseltongues could find the chamber... Do you think he did this because he wanted the muggle borns to be killed due to easy entry into the school instead of the elite purebloods he was urging for... or do you feel he created this to spite Gryffindor Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw in hope they would pay for not ( Read more... )

you might be on to somthing with the hitler thing. wasnt it the same idea? clensing of the bloodlines, getting rid of mudbloods like getting rid of the cripples or the gypsies, or anything else? it just seems like crazy sybolism gone wrong to me. oh well.

the parsletoung thing isnt even a factor in here, cuz not only pure bloods or decendants can speek it. at least they never say that that is the case. yes, salizar could, and so could voldemort. big deal. i think it was revenge and the thought that he knew something they didnt and that they couldnt do a thing about it that caused him to loose the thing into the schools plumbing system

I agree with angelfish09. I always thought that he wanted to take a revenge. It was a kind of play. He was crossed and enjoyed to get the upper hand on the others founders by letting a terrible secret under the castle.
Did he really intend to harm muggle-borns? Yes I think so. But he knew the basilic could kill pureblooded wizards too. I'm sure he had this Hitler complex. He just wished one of his descendants would achieve his aim: prevent muggle-borns to study into Hogwarts.

(please correct me if I wrote like a 5years old girl, I need to improve my english, thanks ^_^)
