I'd havbe to say that sexual abuse is handled the worst, because a lot of times it's just:

A: OMG I JUST GOT RAPED
B: Awwwww :( BUT I LOVE YOU!
A: Really? *tear*
B: Yes. Let me heal you with my MIGHTY COCK OF D00M!
A: OH YES! I WOULDN'T LET ANYONE TOUCH ME BUT WITH YOU IT'S OKAY EVEN THOUGH IT'S GONE LESS THAN 24 HOURS SINCE SOMEONE DID THIS FORCIBLY TO ME!

And that's just not how it works.

The other subjects are pretty badly handled as well, though. Take self-injury and suicide for example; a lot of the time it's "OMG MY LOVED ONE DOESN'T WANT ME/LEFT ME/HAS ANOTHER" and that's just a ridiculous reason. People don't hurt/kill themselves because of that; they might be very sad and if they're already depressed and/or suicidal it might trigger an episode, but a perfectly happy character isn't going to react that way.

I'm sorry you had to go through such a thing. I must admit that I've never been assaulted or anything, and I can only begin to imagine how horrible it must be--but even that is enough. I sincerely hope I'll never have to find out :S

As for the jumping into bed with someone, the example you mentioned is completely plausible, but it's so seldom seen in fic. What I was talking about was the "A only needs B's cock and everything will be peachy" fics; had I seen more "A thinks s/he wants/should want/needs/only deserves B's cock, but it fucks her/him up horribly in more ways than one" fics, I'd be a lot happier with how the subject is handled. And even if A and B love each other, as you say, it's still going to be very difficult for the victim.
