yay, i got a 1953 penny from the san francisco mint today when i got change at kroger... it's a wheaty... and nobody probably cares... but i thought it was cool... considering it's 1) a wheaty, and 2) from the san fran mint... i have less than ten pennies from the san fran mint... i used to have a lot more, but that was a long time ago....

before 1959, the back sides of pennies had two "strands(?)" of wheat and "one cent" in big letters... the design was changed in 1959 to the lincoln memorial...

You collect pennies? I have another friend who does that too... when she goes on about "wheaties" I always imagine coins made from, well, wheat.

heh, yeah... the design is nothing cool... i guess it's just the age... i wonder what they'll call the current ones after they change the design... if they ever do... i kinda hope they do, as both quarters and nickels are getting redesigned...
