Iwas tagged by Lunie for the above meme and have attempted a response as follows. I am a bit reserved and don't know too many peple on LJ yet, so I haven't tagged 7 other people, just 4. Not even really sure (being a newbie and all) how to do a tag. Anyways, the rest is behind the cut

My responses (plus 1.) to being tagged by Lunar47:-
1. I too am an obsessive reader/ viewer of crime fiction/cinema/tv - but it has to be good - just not any old thing..I tend to become really obsessed with a particular author or character..someone I am really drawn to. The tony hill series (wire in the blood) is great for example. Drives my partner crazy at times. He thinks that I am 1. obsessive and 2. into things that are just too dark and scary in an unhealthy way which leads to...
2. I am really into psychology and was initially drawn to forensic psych - which is what really freaked out my partner - and I would probably have worked in that field as a preference if I hadn't gotten so drawn into pain. I guess there are some parallels there, but that's another conversation. Now I am primarily totally focused on pain - mechanisms, contributors, processes, drugs, therapy...you name it. It is really hard and can be really depressing and sometimes I don't have an off button...but it can also be so rewarding and life changing.
3. I also love movies and I am an avid movie goer and collector. I can spend hours watching and thinking about movies. My first movie obsession was probably The first Starwars movie in my distant youth. I was hopeless - posters, scrapbooks, sountracks, books, costumes, Hair like princess Leia at school - what a tragedy that was- but well, I had a very fertile imagination. I have only gotten worse with age I must say, but I am a little more selective about it now and save my opinions for those who care (read like minded!!). B.SG. is my current obsession.
3. I love to cook - mexican and indonesian styles are a particular favourite - and I LOVE to cook for other people, invite mates around for a meal and a conversation with a few wines...Yeah, I love that. I also like to dress up, for fun, for themes, for parties - chances to change my personality, to act a part, pretend...yeah, I love that too
4. Travel has been a compuction. I get restless feet. Love to see and experience things. My favourite places in the world so far (apart from lot's of bits of Australia) include parts of Alaska and Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Hawaii, and Bali all for lot's of different reasons. Without being too morbid, I have a pact with my partner that my ashes should be equally spread in Tulum Mexico, and a special place at home here is australia. It's just something I want when that has to happen. I also have a need to be near water, which I haven't really resoved because I currently live in drought ridden central victoria.
5. I am an atheist. Something that makes me anxious and has kept me up on many a night. spiritual tendancies - I like some of the rituals...but an atheist . I have had many long discussions about this with family and friends..I went the whole way at school - christian college, sunday schools etc- but that's me.
6. In addition to travelling, I love to hike. I love seeing wild, untouched, open places. Some of my favourite trips have been constructed around great hikes. The chilcoot trail in alaska, the mauna kea summit in Hawaii, torres del paine in chille, the queen charlotte sound in New Zealand.
7. I love music. I can't read music ...it's on my list...but I have a good ear. I can play a little guitar and I have a cello which I glare at in the corner every now and then because I have this love hate relationship with it. I do love music though. I can't imagine a day without it. I have a wide, eclectic variety of tastes, no particular leaning to a style, although, once again, I have a tendency toward obsessiveness here as well. Currently, I just can't get enough of Damien Rice. Can't go a day without him.
8. I have been with My partner for 17 years....wow, started out friends, and he's still the best friend I'll ever have. I had a cat named Tom who died at the age of 16 a year ago and that broke my heart, but I have in recent months adopted a little tabby guy who goes by the name wilson - and I adore him. Can't imagine my life without these guys.
