America isn't really filled with this kind of stupidity. I mean, keep in mind that these things were up in New York, Atlanta, Seattle, and San Francisco without any trouble. I think it's just the Boston government in this case who is to blame. As for who would target Boston, well, terrorists. That's where a lot of the 9/11 hijackers flew out of, and Boston has been on edge ever since. Of course, that doesn't excuse this sort of blatant overreaction, and I think it demonstrates how ill-prepared Boston is for an attack.

I found the whole situation hilarious. I guess they have reasons to be paranoid, but sometimes I feel like media hype just blows these situations out of proportion. I remember seeing some undercover report or something like that, and they left an unidentified brown bag near the statue of liberty (or some important monument) and it was a test to see how long it would take for some guard to find it. It went unnoticed for like, days XD haha

Sometimes I just want to up and leave the country, but I know right now we're just going through bad times. It's sad the rest of the world sees us the way they do. My German relatives are always talking about how most of Europe is laughing at us, but hopefully that will all change when we get Bush out of office. We're living through history I guess, how funny this will be in the future -- just a chapter in some high schooler's textbook.
