This morning I received an advance of the new CD from Fugu. This fella will need no introduction to chiff-chaff (I hope things are well with you in Houston right now, but I imagine you have more pressing issues than reading livejournal. Hope all friends & family are safe and coping well), but in a nutshell: a series of 45s from the early-to-late-90s released

i'm so glad you like the new fugu! i haven't received my copy of the proper album yet, but mehdi sent me some early mixes of six new tracks several months ago. and what a great bunch of big, happy, gorgeous love songs they are, too! i can't wait to hear the final versions of these songs and the album as a whole. viva la pop!

thanks so much for your kind thoughts re: hurricane rite. we weren't asked to evacuate our area of houston and, given the hellish scenes along the evacuation routes, i'm so glad we didn't even try. our area was very, very, very lucky in that we suffered almost no damage. we were also super lucky in that we never lost power. the leadup was certainly a very scary time, though.

Re fugu: I was astonished at what a leap on from the first LP it is. OK it's a little less ideosyncratic, but yes, such big joy-filled bundles of sound! I may put one or two up as MP3s in the coming days (if Mehdi lets me), so...er..stay tuned...
