Are "friends" electric?

Been neglecting this thing for awhile. I wonder why? I guess it's partly because I've recently succumbed to social pressures ha ha & opened a myspace account. Now that it's a year past it being perceived as cool (and now that it's controlled by a scumbag media mogul), I think it's safe for me to do such things ( Read more... )

yeah, the good thing about myspace is coming across people you haven't seen in forever, would like to talk to again, but have no other way of finding out even where they are. plus i've heard some really great bands i wouldn't have otherwise heard (check out "lucky soul", lovely).

we planned "an assault" on myspace the other night at the bar. the goal being to "make up" 600 bands and post profiles for them. i wonder how far we're going to actually take it.

getting back to real life, anything going on next week?

Yes, I can't argue with myspace being a good friend re-connecter (aha, a new word). And there's certainly some good music there too, but it means wading through *so much dross*...

Real life: Phoenix play on monday (actually just heard it's been cancelled damnandblast). Also, some top band or other is playing a secret gig at Trash on monday; according to the club website, "a legendary band playing live for the first time in a good while, a gig that will come under the 'i was there when...' heading....". My guess is Pet Shop Boys, which might be entertaining. But you're back wednesday, yes? In which case the social highlight of the week will be your much-anticipated karaoke thing. it's still going ahead, yes?

I think the world and their lobster have a myspace space; even though it's a part of the Evil Murdoch Empire. I have visions of Murdoch as kind of like a Bond villain. If one of his employees "displeases" him, they get fed to his pet octopus, or fall from a great height, or get splatted under a giant flyswatter or something...

A friend of mine has this theory that the Arctic Monkeys are a Murdoch creation, manufactured by him to prove the power of myspace. He's probably right.

I added you as a friend, I hope you don't mind. When I came across your profile, I just couldn't *not* add you! Yeah...I noticed that you were listening to Judy Henske. Wonderful.
