Yeah, they would've been insanely priced at any antique store I know of, too (the only deals I seem to get at antique stores are for ragbunnies... and even they tend to be a few dollars more than they'd be at thrift stores :P ).
I have to say, eBay is the great equalizer, nowadays! Although most of these sorts of dolls tend to go for a bit over $2 a pop, they're still very reasonable... mostly, I'm sure, because there are so very many of them on eBay, & the collector can take their pick!
I think it's incredibly interesting that I can snap these bonafied antiques up for practically nothing, while "mass-produced" dolls from just 30 or so years ago (Blythe, Peteena, etc) are completely out of my reach. Ah, collectables! What a fickle mistress ye are! ;D
They are wonderful. I love old dolls too. I love that dolls used to be played with a lot as toys - and were really loved. They are lucky to have found a home again, awwwwwwwwww.

Yay!
It kindof makes me wonder, actually, what's going to become of all of my many "friends" when I'm gone.
If I happen to outlive my human friends who'd be interested in taking my dolls, I very much hope that the people who adopt Fox, Dinah, & the rest love them for who they are... and part of me also hopes that I score at least a tiny bit of immortality in people wondering what Fox & Dinah's favourite playmate must have been like...
I'm far from an expert, but I *think* that Frozen Charlottes are techinically the ones who're molded all in one piece... 'course, what the name *technically* refers to is often immaterial! I've seen these guys described as "Frozen Charlottes", too. I sometimes wonder if eBay sellers actually think that the dolls should be described as "Frozen Charlotte", or just think that name will garner hits.
::shrugs::
Either way, I'd completely forgotten about "Frozen Charlottes" when I found Sophie & Charlotte... but I'm pretty sure that's where Charlotte got her name (I just report what the dolls tell me, dammit! And she said that her name was Charlotte!) ;D
