The Buddhist temple my mom goes to is run by 2 very wonderful animal-loving Buddhist nuns. They've taken care of a total of 6 stray dogs (including 5 puppies) and one stray cat. Besides feeding the animals, naming, and giving them a safe place to stay, their priority has been getting shots and spaying and neutering the animals so the cycle of ( Read more... )

That is awesome. There are so many pets from Galveston who need foster care or adoption after the storm.

I love this post.

The buddies are lucky to have people who care about them. Spaying and neutering is so important!

I totally think you should go into animal for animals or for people using animals. There's a group based in Hong Kong that you should read about. I might have told you about them before. Their website is http://www.animalsasia.org but it is down right now. I know they are still active. Check it out when you can. They do animal therapy. It's really neat.

I would love to be a vet tech when I retire from teaching (or just tire of it). That's kinda a plan of mine, but the euthanasia would be so hard to witness.
