i didn't want to make a big deal about it until i was sure it was going to work out. after 4 trial days, i've decided that sami's a keeper!

he came to me friday, drugged but still a total puppy spaz, right up until he climbed in my lap and passed out. we had just met! this is kind of like a girl getting wasted on your first date. he was cute and easy and totally not himself.

i left my camera at my parents, so my macbook is doubling as a camera right now.

he slept with his tongue out, which i was hoping he would do when he sobered up, but no luck.

i present him to you game show style!

stephanie said i should get a dog who would snuggle and sleep in my bed, and sami has no qualms about getting on beds. he's kind of snuggly, but he has that puppy chompiness when he gets excited. he's working on it and has come a long way in 4 days.

he can't help exploding in fits of enthusiasm. the rescue told me he was 3-4, but he has enough energy to power a small town. there's just no way, even for a husky.

i'm still trying to decide if the bed is acceptable. he doesn't actually sleep there. he likes the floor or the couch or even the arm chair. he wakes me in the morning (5:30-6!!!) by stretching, yawning, taking a running start and flying at my head. it's much cuter than it sounds. how can you resist that kind of love of life?

he loves to give kisses. he stands outside the shower and timidly bites at the water. he sleeps ON my table by the windows when i'm out so he can vigilantly await my return, like a cat. he loves all people and dogs, maybe too much? his first time at the dog park ended with him almost getting gang banged by a pack of newfoundlands because he's so not an alpha boy.

and he talks! he doesn't cry and doesn't make much noise at all, but when he gets rambunctious, he will tell you what's what. i need to capture some of the lower noises, but this is the frisky wookie how how how that he does.

right now he's sleeping in my bathroom. it's hard to get used to how totally different he is from the biscuit. i never could replace the biscuit, and sami is awesome in his own way. i think he's going to be a very good pal. he has tons of potential.

we have been walking 8 miles a day. it's so good for me, the best kind of exercise. we've already made a lot of friends down at the dog park, and we also met this seemingly nice but possibly weirdo stoner young guy who offered to walk sami sometimes, if i wanted. the guy likes to walk? when i didn't have a dog, i wanted to walk other people's dogs, so maybe it's not sketch? right now i'm greedy and want to do all the walking! SO MUCH WALKING!!!!
