Drabble a day...Day 9!
demondean inspired me for my alone!verse with these two prompts: Sam/Dean -- Let the chaos rule the rest & Sam/Dean -- Dissolving who we are. It's getting darker folks, I hope you like it!
Day 9:
Not much they can do now. They’ve searched every city, been to every town. If there are people, they haven’t been found, or are just dead. The world has been decimated, save for Sam and Dean. It’s as if the world is just laughing at them. Showing them how alone they are, and just how long they think they can survive it.
They had their chance. The world could have been saved.
Michael could have killed Lucifer.
Dean could have killed Sam.
Dean sits on the broken steps of an old wooden cabin they found, only a few dead bodies around, not too bad. He has a pile of crushed cigarettes at his feet, and he’s sucking away at the one with the intent to smoke every cigarette he can find.
“You should have killed me when you had the chance, you selfish bastard.” Sam spits with venom in his voice, as he comes upon Dean.
Dean pulls the cigarette from his lips, throws it to the ground and smashes it with the toe of his boot.
“You know what? Fuck you, Sam. Why don’t you find someone who gives a shit? I saved my brother. End of story. Feel free to leave whenever you’d like if it bothers you that much. If it's you and me til the end of time, I'm fine with that. But you go ahead. Leave."
Dean turns to go back into the sorry excuse for a cabin with a bit of a limp and a new scar on his cheek.
Sam just watches. His expression unreadable.
“You know I love you too much for that.” Sam whispers more to himself than anything.
They are slowly dissolving from the Sam and Dean they used to be. Dean decides to save the one person he loves and needs more than anything in this world, and it backfires on him in spades. Now, that one person Dean loves more than anything, wishes Dean had killed him.
