Garters really are sexy. :D I'm a fan of stockings, too! And so much yay for your guidance. *is a much happier woman* :D

I telemarketed for all of a week once. The deal was that if you quit within the first two weeks, they wouldn't pay you at all. But if they fired you, they had to. They fired about six or seven people per day, so it was pretty routine. And you'd be surprised how many people quit before the probationary period was up regardless! It was selling newspaper subscriptions and it was horrid. It got to the point where every time a supervisor came anywhere near me, my head would snap up in eager anticipation, hoping so hard that it was my firing at last! I lasted a week, which was at least two days longer than any of the other people hired on the same day as me, but still. Pretty poor. I sold six subscriptions in all that time. *sigh* (Still... *mutters about how it was about six more subscriptions than anyone else got...*)

oh my god. that sounds awful! This isn't nearly so bad. I'm not actually selling anything; I'm just asking people to give money, which, paradoxically, is easier-- the college is so expensive that a lot of the alumni I'm calling recieved financial aid when they were in school, so quite a few are willing to donate to the scholarship fund. Or if they aren't, at least they are pretty nice about it (hate to be such a snob, but all the people I'm calling did graduate from Columbia, so by and large they aren't complete idoits).

It's so boring it makes me want to drill holes in my head, but it isn't terrible.

Yeah, it definitely was. I had a friend who did the same thing as what you're doing for our ex-university and said it wasn't nearly as bad, so I'm glad for your sake!

I used to read books while doing it. So boring! And sometimes it would be a lot of time between calls - like, ten minutes or more!

I think I giggle more every time I re-read this post. Do you know your fic has accidentally spawned a H/D companion piece? You are totally responsible for that. It's chaptered, too. Bloody hell. Like I need more fic to write, I can't even cope with the one's I already have ( ... )
