"What do we want!? A small improvement! When do we want it!? 2016!"

Ganked from groovesinorbit, because... well, yeah. It's sad.

OK, what I'm finding more horrifying? The vote was 9-14. Not lone crazy voice, but almost 40% of the committee.

Seriously. Because mandating maternity leave and care isn't pretty much a necessity for allowing women an equal place in the workforce, keeping them alive, or anything. I think we need more public rants about how much the Republicans hate mothers.

And remember, the GOP is concerned about how their image is being sullied by lone nutjobs. Like, apparently, most of the party.

We do.

And just where is the logic? [OK, I know that the answer is NOT HERE. But I'm gonna write it out anyway.] We certainly don't want to cover abortion. But we don't want to cover maternity care, because we *certainly* want "will this bankrupt me?" to be the deciding factor for women trying to decide whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term.

And all these white male scholars saying:
Well, she shouldn’t have a baby if she can’t feed him.
But she shouldn’t have an abortion either,
She should just know better.
You see, knowledge is power
Yeah, but power is money and
Money’s what matters.

Yeah, but if he ever needs Viagra, you can bet he'll be screaming for it to be covered.

My sister at one time actually had insurance that would cover Viagra, but not birth control.

See, that's massively disgusting. My first thought was to say "Well, since Sen. Stabenow doesn't need treatments for prostate or testicular cancer, should we stop covering that, too?"

I've seen those insurance plans. They make me both weep and froth.

Well I mean, I'm a woman, and since I'm not having a baby, NO women should have babies. Pshah.

Have you considered running on the GOP ticket?

Well see, they don't take too kindly to women not having babies. That's the only reason Palin was chosen over me last year. If I was a man it'd be fine. The fact that I'm married and I stay at home and bake cakes is a good start though.

I just.

I don't even.

I ACCIDENTALLY THE WHOLE THING.

(When baffled, I channel my inner /b/tard. I find it is the only thing that helps.)

Have a cat macro.

Fully understandable. While I'm also a South Park fan, I think /b/ is still where I get my primary sense of "this is what X actually believe."

And, yeah, it boggles the rational mind. My 30-year-old-kneejerk-reactionary conservatism, let me show you it.

Ovarian cancer next on his list? Then cervical? Then therapy for rape victims? Because we all know that Nice White Girls who Do The Right Thing don't get raped and neither do guys. So really, there's a big budget slash right there.

GAH. WHARRRRBARLGE!

Well, y'know, if you're going to charge alleged rape victims for the kit to prove it, a la Sarah the Former Governor's world, shouldn't they pay for their therapy? If you're icky, it's because God didn't love you enough to protect, and that's your own fault, remember.
