I can almost, vaguely, put up with rollover ads that expand to cover content. I hate them, but I will deal. I can deal with the flash scroll-in things that cover your content, if they have a reasonable close button - which to me is "emulate Windows, as the common interface, and have an X in the upper right." I have run into some that have the three-button system with which Windows users are instinctually familiar... but the rightmost "X" has a little arrow hidden up by the side, and opens a pop up. Again, if I could strangle people with my mind, whoever thought that up would be passing out regularly.

What's starting to really piss me off is the pop-up/pop-under ads that are now set to wait for the user to click on content, to get around pop-up blocking software. Because, y'know, if I've got software specifically to prevent the annoying sort of ad you want to show, I'll be oh-so-inclined to treat the ad favorably when you intentionally subvert the tool I use. And it shows up on Real Business websites, not just warez and hacker places ( ... )
