Woot! Even just a skim of the posts screams useful. Thanks!
To be honest, my biggest issue recently was my own stupidity. I was reading through the thumb instructions, and somehow decided C04 on the stitch before the gusset meant to cast off four existing stitches instead of casting on 4 to leave the gap. Had me confused for way longer than is at all reasonable. ;)
Trust me it happens to us all, I started a shawl on Friday and discovered after nearly a full repeat that I had mixed up the decreases, I'm ignoring it and keeping going.
TechKnitter is amazingly useful and instructive; I find the diagrams particularly easy to follow.
This one has a sort of K2, YO, SKP / SKP, YO, K2 border motif going on, and at some point I managed to gain a stitch in the motif. It would have shown a bit too much, so I had to go back to set the pattern right. Paid much closer attention after that, let me tell you.
The language on TechKnitter seems fairly clear, and the diagrams so far are brilliant. I get the feeling I'll be hitting that bookmark a lot.
