I have no idea how that works, because the first 4 paragraphs of my current short story WIP are like Douglas Adams (wtf?) and the following 4 are like Isaac Asimov.

I'm betting there's some word-weighting, maybe sentence size. Not much meaningful, I should think. I just found it amusing.

I'm fairly sure my long, dreamlike flow in the first has a lot less to do with all the cursing and cutting in the second - two very different voices, not one combination voice. ;)

It's not quite done. There was at least a sentence or two left when my inspiration petered out, a few months ago. Maybe even a couple paragraphs for closure. I should see if I can get back to that place and wrap it up...
