So, a lot of things have been happening, but due to my weird schedule and general meh, I haven't much talked about them. Every once in a while, something will come up, and I'll think "I should tell the Interwebz!" By the time midnight rolls around and I'm online, though, that impulse tends to evaporate. So, here's a random update I've been meaning ( Read more... )

I'M in an environment where literally everyone uses MS Office every day. Out of 36employees, I only know one who can use mail merge, and that's me.

You got employee of the month because you do hold yourself to a higher standard than your employers expect out of anyone.

Glad you havent disappeared entirely from the interwebs.

Btw, this is my first ever posty comment using the new android I got in.the mail earlier today.

Oh, yeah. All of the clerical staff use Excel for everything all the time every day. But I'm the only one who actually thinks about creating macros or making up pivot tables or using formulas. The assistant general manager has mentioned vertical lookups, and I think he's savvy, but in general, my coworkers are just short of the power-user mark. At least it makes me wizardly by comparison.

And, yeah, I'm not gone... just not very active at all. Working just-off the rest of the world puts me in an odd frame of mind, since my most useful hours tend to be when most people are asleep.

And congrats on the new gadget! I contemplate smart phones every now and then, but I'm remarkably luddite about my phone. Maybe it's just because of the number of times I've lost or damaged my cell phones. ;)

Well I wouldn'T have ordered it cept I was at the two year mark and this was free with a contract renewal. So for zero dollars and the knowledge that I have the perfectly serviceable Samsung as a backup phone. I made the jump. I was going to renew anyway and there is a nifty new thing called the square which allows an ordinary person to swipe a credit card at a per transaction fee with no monthly service fees like with other card swipe machines. Twill make doing craft shows a heck of a lot easier.

Hells to the yeah.

And not only that, but to this very day, it's like 90% SUMPRODUCT and VLOOKUP, with a dash of pivot tables for the quick and dirty stuff. So thanks for the tip way back when.
