Briar stormed through the garden gate, letting it bang shut behind him.
Tris followed as far as the gate yelling, while Sandry and Daja watched from the doorway, leaning on each other.
"I should've known! I should've known! Once a thief, always a thief and all that'll ever matter to you is money! I should've known you'd turn into a Bag sooner or later!" Tris yelled, leaning on the gate, curls escaping the tie that held them.
"I am not a Bag, merchant!" Briar spat it out like a curse word, turning so he was facing her, yelling at her from the middle of the street.
"Sure you aren't! I must be addled! I must be imagining things, it's not at all Bag-like that you barely even deign to talk to us anymore! Or that you refuse to ever set aside your pride and listen to anyone else!"
Daja wrapped her arm around Sandry's shoulders, remarking drily,
"Just like old times."
