I know my love is an errant rover, I know he’ll wander the wild world over

I needed a mini-break. Napa was suggested. It seemed less expensive than Portland. I had never been to Napa before. My experiences with wine tasting were limited to a very brave attempt by a very sassy woman to educate a bunch of beer swilling lunkheads to the joys of the vine. She was, I believe, vaguely successful. I started keeping a bottle of ( Read more... )

Something else that you might enjoy sometime when you want a little escape would be a tour and tasting of several breweries in the San Diego area, it's one of the things Thea is thinking of doing for my bachelorette party since I am more of a beer girl than a wine chick. I like wine, took a wine tasting class and went to a wine convention in Sydney and had lots of yummy stuff, but really, it's all about just drinking what you like, fuck merlot, and drink the candy.

Yay beer! I vote yes on beer. I really like the summer ale that that one brewery in SD produces. With the surfer on the label? That one.

prager port is really really good. Love it. Moscato is another candy wine that can be very very nice. we were members of the wine club at both prager and st supery which has a good moscato.

sounds like you had a good break.

I enjoy Muscat, but it feels very heavy in the glass, and tends to be a bit more syrupy than I'd like sometimes. I'm always surprised when they give it to me in a big glass.
That being said, the Castle place had a very nice Muscat, which is what I drank with the salty chocolate.

Squeee!! I'm so glad you had a good time!

I hate Rose, too. Pink wine is NEVER a good idea. Which is why I never did a class on that. Cause they are ICKY.

Now I must try b Cellars Cab. :)

We went to Bounty Hunter to try Poetic Justice, but they don't sell it by the glass. The girl, who was VERY knowledgeable(and cute. very cute.) reccommended the Hopper and Dr. Crane, as they are from the same year/piece of land. They were both excellent, and very different, and it made me really want to try the Justice wines even more.
I really liked that wine bar, it would be a great starting place for a trip up there.
